Getting started

Here’s an introduction and overview of the process of your web design project to help you as we get started! 

1. What I need from you to get started

Your Logo (high res PNG files)

Hosting Login (hosting account and/or Cpanel login)

Current Website Login (if currently a WordPress site)

Brand style guide (if you have one).

I will need your preferred colours for the various elements on your site such as buttons, font colours (headings and body copy), icons etc

Images and any special graphics, icons or background pieces you’d like to use for your site (high res jpeg files please)

If you have fonts that you use already for other marketing pieces please provide names and/or font files.

These can be uploaded to our Dropbox account (see below).

2. Project Management & Communication

To keep us both on track and fully on top of your website project we will be using a fantastic online project management tool called Asana.

I will send you a link to your project which help you to create an Asana account (it’s free) and will take you through a quick welcome video of Asana.

You will then be able to see a complete overview of your website project and all the steps we will go through together.

It is also how we will communicate with each other on each of the tasks, so everything is in the one place and nothing gets lost in strings of emails.

I am not sure if you have used Asana before, but I am sure you will love it.

3. File & Image Sharing

Dropbox is a great online image/file sharing platform.

This isn’t necessary for every project, but if you have more than 15-20 images for your website or if they’re too big to send through email or post on Asana, we can use dropbox.

I will set up a folder for the project and will share the folder with you via email. You can upload all images and files there.

4. The Design Process

Designing a website, no matter how big or small, is an extensive process that can be overwhelming. I’ve outlined my process into 3 steps:



A large and time consuming part of website design is in the layout, structure and design of the site. I’ll create the framework of the website and will send the homepage and a sub-page (or more upon request) for approval.


Once the site layout and design is approved, I’ll move forward with the designing of all pages, functionality and responsive code, making sure your site looks great.


Once the site is ready for final review, you’ll be able to review each page and we can make detailed edits until the site is revised completely. Once all final edits are made I will optimise your site so it functions nicely across all devices and web browsers.

5. Wrapping Up & Going Live

Once the site is ready to go live, all unnecessary plugins, pages, images and backend files will be removed. Once live, please allow 24-48 hours for propagation to occur. Some computers will need to be refreshed in order to see the new site, though most computers will see the new site immediately depending on the wifi connection.

Your website logins and all credentials will be sent to you via Asana or email. PLEASE SAVE ALL LOGINS FOR YOUR RECORDS AS WELL.

Upon completion, you’ll receive a link to my “moving forward” process where you’ll receive tips and tricks on marketing your new website and also information on our Maintenance/Security Plan which I highly recommend for all my clients.
